Kateswell Awards Grants

Following its October launch, Kateswell has expedited outreach to Ohio cancer nonprofits and has awarded the first two grants to Meg’s Mission for Mammograms and Alex’s Sunnyside Playroom. The organization has also identified nearly 100 other eligible nonprofits as potential future grant recipients.

“In our state, cancer is the second most common cause of death, accounting for nearly one of every four lives lost,” said Brian Vanderhorst, Kateswell co-founder. “Our mission is to help change that. Starting with our nonprofit partners program, we’re elevating the narrative around cancer in Ohio in a way that empowers and enhances awareness for these organizations and those they serve. They’re doing great work, and we want to help them succeed.”

Based in Central Ohio, Kateswell was founded by Katie and Brian Vanderhorst in the wake of Katie’s victory over lymphoma. The mission is to raise funds and awareness for Ohio cancer nonprofits through the Kateswell Collective.

“Part of our mission is to develop the best list of cancer nonprofits in the state so that we – and  others – can identify their needs and better support them,” said Katie Vanderhorst, Kateswell co-founder.

Soon, Kateswell will roll out an innovative sponsorship program that pairs philanthropic businesses and social enterprises with Kateswell’s nonprofit partners in powerful ways. Learn more and view video.
