Kateswell Announces Launch
Nonprofit Kateswell today announced its official launch including its new website and video at www.kateswell.org.
Based in Central Ohio and recently featured on Daytime Columbus, Kateswell was founded by Katie and Brian Vanderhorst in the wake of Katie’s victory over lymphoma. The mission is to raise funds and awareness for all Ohio cancer nonprofits through the Kateswell Collective.
“In Ohio, cancer is the second most common cause of death, accounting for nearly 1 of every 4 lives lost,” said Brian Vanderhorst, co-founder. “This is about 11 percent higher than the national average. In 2019, the American Cancer Society estimates that 25,440 lives will be lost to cancer in our state with 67,150 new cases diagnosed. Kateswell was founded to help change this.”
“I was very fortunate to have access to sophisticated research and treatment at The James, as well as an incredible amount of support from family, friends, coworkers and community,” said Katie Vanderhorst, co-founder. “We are sharply aware of the fact that many people are not that fortunate. We became really passionate about figuring out what it would take to make the biggest impact possible. And, that led to founding Kateswell.”
In establishing the Kateswell Collective, the organization seeks to create a community of nonprofits, donors, social enterprises, sponsors, volunteers and ambassadors in a shared mission to improve cancer outcomes in Ohio. By harnessing the power of collaboration, community and philanthropy, Kateswell hopes to maximize social impact.
