Alex's Sunnyside Playroom

The grant we received from Kateswell helped us put together care packages for a young family battling stage 4 lung cancer in Cleveland, a young family battling cervical and uterine cancer in Dayton, a young family battling stage 4 rectal cancer in Columbus, a young family battling angiosarcoma in Columbus, a young family battling stage 1 breast cancer in Columbus, an end-stage pancreatic cancer family in Columbus, and a family on hospice care with stage 4 colon cancer in Columbus.

The grant also got us closer to our second family playroom at The James OSUCC.

NC4K

The grant that we received from Kateswell had such a large impact to our organization and the families we serve. NC4K supports families within the state of Ohio, who are facing a pediatric cancer diagnosis. We connected with Kateswell during the peak of COVID19. The pandemic only heightened feelings of overwhelm and stress that our families were processing. Traditionally NC4K has been able to support and engage families at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, in person, sharing care packages and providing priceless emotional support. With COVID19 restrictions in place, we were unable to connect with our families in the hospital, leaving many feeling isolated and disconnected from their support systems. The grant we received from Kateswell allowed us to pivot from our traditional in person care packages, and provide gift cards to our families, to help alleviate some of the added costs of travel and eating out during treatment. The grant money from Kateswell provided an avenue for our organization to continue to be involved with the families we serve. We are so grateful for the support we received from Kateswell!

Gala of Hope Foundation

The grant we received from Kateswell helped us support 3 cancer patients who found themselves with nowhere else to turn, seeking help for quality of life expenses. Gala was able to keep them in their homes, paying mortgage payments for 2 months, and providing groceries for them and their families. Kateswell helped us reduce their stress so that they could focus their energy on defeating their cancer.

Ashland County Cancer Association

The grant from Kateswell has helped us provide cancer patients across Ashland County Boost supplemental nutritional drinks, transportation to cancer-related appointments, and financial assistance for required medications for one's treatment. Their support has helped us better serve patients and their families wading through cancer's many financial, emotional, and physical effects. Where there is help, there is HOPE! Thank you, Kateswell!

Cancer Association of Mercer County

The grant we received from Kateswell helped us host our annual Girl’s Night Out and Guy’s Night Out for area cancer survivors. These nights are important to many cancer survivors. It is a time that the survivors come together to share what they have gone through with others that might be going through something similar. It helps them know that they are not alone in their battle. For both the guys and girls we offer them a meal and the chance for massages and we play some games and have door prizes. For the women we also offer beauty tips that might be beneficial while losing eyebrows or having skin problems due to radiation. We also offer them the chance to get their nails done and they are invited to do a craft to take home. For the guys we offer haircuts and we have a Euchre tournament and for those who don’t like to play cards we have other games they can join in with. The men are invited to bring along a guest to the event because we have found that many men won’t come alone. With your grant we have also been able to offer a monthly support group called H.O.P.E. ( Helping our people emotionally). This monthly group meeting is an unconventional support group for cancer survivors where we start off the session with a craft or a game to break the ice and then we just allow the survivors to socialize and share their stories. We have found that many are really enjoying this and opening up to others about what they are going through. Thank you for all of your support so we can offer emotional support to so many!

Ovarian Cancer Connection

The grant we received from Kateswell went directly to our financial assistance program. This program is strictly for the ladies fighting ovarian cancer/gynecologic cancers and currently in treatment. The money the Ovarian Cancer Connection received from Kateswell went towards the purchase of Speedway gas cards. Each gas card is worth $25. The week before her next appointment, she will receive a card from us to help with transportation. If she is in treatment, a card is sent to her the week prior to her next appointment. To date in 2022, the OCC has purchased $18,450 in cards and it’s predicted that by year end, we will purchase another $17,500 for cards. Without the support from Kateswell, our gals would be struggling to make it to her appointments and putting their lives in danger.

Cancer Family Care

The grant we received from Kateswell helped us provide individualized, professional counseling services to adults, children and families affected by cancer.  This grant helped us provide services to those who would have otherwise not been able to afford them.

Karen Wellington Foundation

The grant we received from Kateswell helped us continue our mission of putting FUN on the calendars of countless women and families LIVING with breast cancer. The generosity from Kateswell has allowed our recipients to trade in chemo chairs and canceled plans for sunrise hikes and hot air balloon rides. These types of gifts fund the FUN and we couldn't be more grateful!
